ChemInform Abstract: Observation of New Oscillatory Phenomena During the Electrochemical Anodization of Silicon.
2010
This paper reports the observation of large undamped voltage oscillations during the anodic polarization of silicon in electrol yte containing a combination of acids. One of them stimulates oxide growth and the other its chemical dissolution (in the present c ase, (0.01-0.1 M H3PO4) + (0.001- 0.01 M HF). This temporal patterning of the anodization process is shown to be due to the formation of a thin (50-90 nm) oxide layer at the sample surface and its subsequent lifting-off. The mechanism of oxide detachment i s thought to be an isotropic growth of micropores at the oxide/silicon interface triggered on by changes of electrochemical condi tions there.
Revision of Na 2 A1Σ+u state molecular constants by polarization labeling spectroscopy
1997
ABSTRACT. This paper contains the analysis of the A1 of Na2 based on the data obtained from thepolarization labeling spectroscopy experiment on the A' —X' transition. A set of Dunham coefficients is derived, which describes the A state in the wide range of v and J 126) quantum numbers and reproduces the positions of unperturbed rotational lines in the A-X band system towithinO.1 cm'.1. INTRODUCTION.We report' new analysis of the A' state based on the data obtained from polarization labelingspectroscopy (PLS) experiment"2, based on V-type optical—optical double resonance scheme, on the 1 : ' ; band system of sodium dimer. The diatomic alkali molecules, with their simple electronic configurat…
Optimized Continuous Application of Hyperpolarized Xenon to Liquids
2018
International audience; In recent years, NMR with hyperpolarized (HP) xenon inside functionalized host structures (e.g. cryptophanes) have become a potential candidate for the direct observation of metabolic processes (i.e. molecular imaging). A critical issue for real applications is the dissolution of the HP-gas in the liquid which contains the host. In this work, we present recent developments for an improved and controlled dissolution of HP-Xe in liquids using hollow fiber membranes and different compressor systems. The designed apparatus consists of a compressor and a membrane unit. The compressor provides HP-129 Xe continuously at small adjustable pressures and in a polarization-prese…
Predictors of credibility of online media in the spanish polarized media system
2019
Credibility of online news media is facing important challenges: the levelling effect of the digital environment, the changing habits of consumption, polarization of discourses… This scenario makes it relevant to address what features of news brands and news content shape the credibility of contemporary journalism. This article tests a set of items, including journalistic standards, reputation and citizen participation, in order to build predictors involved in credibility judgments. The authors carried on a quantitative survey (n=416), representative of the Spanish online population. Results identified currency of information, inclusion of analysis and context, citation of sources and inclu…
Dynamics of Strongly Coupled Modes between Surface Plasmon Polaritons and Photoactive Molecules: The Effect of the Stokes Shift
2017
We have investigated the dynamics of strongly coupled modes of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) and fluorescent molecules by analyzing their scattered emission polarization. While the scattered emission of SPPs is purely transverse magnetic (TM) polarized, the strong coupling with molecules induces transverse electric (TE) polarized emission via the partial molecular nature of the formed SPP–molecule polariton mode. We observe that the TM/TE ratio of the polariton emission follows the contribution of the molecular excited states in this hybrid mode. By using several types of molecules, we observe that, in addition to the coupling strength, which determines the contribution of the molecular…
Measurement of the SMC muon beam polarisation using the asymmetry in the elastic scattering off polarised electrons
2000
A muon beam polarimeter was built for the SMC experiment at the CERN SPS, for beam energies of 100 and 190 GeV. The beam polarisation is determined from the asymmetry in the elastic scattering off the polarised electrons of a ferromagnetic target whose magnetisation is periodically reversed. At muon energies of 100 and 190 GeV the measured polarisation is P-mu = -0.80 +/- 0.03 (stat.) +/- 0.02 (syst.) and P-mu = - 0.797 +/- 0.011 (stat.) +/- 0.012 (syst.), respectively. These results agree with measurements of the beam polarisation using a shape analysis of the decay positron energy spectrum. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
Structural analysis, phase stability and electrochemical characterization of Nb doped BaCe0.9Y0.1O3−x electrolyte for IT-SOFCs
2012
Abstract To improve the chemical stability of high temperature proton conductors based on barium cerate, electrolyte powders doped with different amounts of niobium were synthesized by the citrate–nitrate auto-combustion method. Pure single phases of BaCe 0.9− x Nb x Y 0.1 O 3− x (BCYN, 0.03 ≤ x ≤ 0.12) were obtained by thermal treatment at 1000 °C. Sintering at 1450 °C for 10 h produced dense pellets. X-ray absorption spectroscopy allowed to define the dopant ion insertion site and the co-dopant valency. Treatments in pure CO 2 atmosphere at 700 °C for 3 h and subsequent XRD analysis were carried out to probe the chemical stability of the produced electrolytes. The influence of the prese…
Causality-based Social Media Analysis for Normal Users Credibility Assessment in a Political Crisis
2019
Information trustworthiness assessment on political social media discussions is crucial to maintain the order of society, especially during emergent situations. The polarity nature of political topics and the echo chamber effect by social media platforms allow for a deceptive and a dividing environment. During a political crisis, a vast amount of information is being propagated on social media, that leads up to a high level of polarization and deception by the beneficial parties. The traditional approaches to tackling misinformation on social media usually lack a comprehensive problem definition due to its complication. This paper proposes a probabilistic graphical model as a theoretical vi…
All polarization-maintaining assively mode-locked yb-doped fiber laser : pulse compression using an anomalous polarization-maintaining photonic cryst…
2019
We report the generation of short pulses at 1 μm using an all-polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber configuration. The pulses are provided by an all normal-dispersion Fabry-Perot Yb-doped cavity and are compressed with an anomalous polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber (PM PCF). Opposed to standard configurations; here the filtering action is solely performed by the finite bandwidth of the gain medium. The laser generates 8 ps width sech 2 profile pulses at 1046.8 nm with a −10 dB bandwidth of 5.9 nm. After compression using the PM PCF, pulses with an FWHM of 3 ps were obtained, limited by the actual value of the available anomalous dispersion. We also report the changes in the outp…
All-Fiber Laser With Intracavity Acousto-Optic Dynamic Mode Converter for Efficient Generation of Radially Polarized Cylindrical Vector Beams
2017
We report an all-fiber laser that emits a radially polarized cylindrical vector beam (CVB) at 1 μm based on an intracavity acousto-optic mode converter. We efficiently generate the CVB, taking advantage of the acousto-optic coupling from the HE11 mode to the TM01 mode in a two-mode fiber. The laser can be switched from emitting a Gaussian-like beam to a radially polarized CVB. Radially polarized CVBs with modal and polarization purities >98% and a maximum power of 65 mW were generated.
